— SERMA Safety & Security Joins Global Group of PCI Recognized Labs to Provide Device
Testing to Validate Compliance to the PCI PIN Transaction Security (PTS) Requirements —

PARIS, 8 April 2016 – The PCI Security Standards Council (PCI SSC) and SERMA Safety & Security, a subsidiary of SERMA Group, have announced today that SERMA Safety & Security is now a PCI ecognized laboratory approved to conduct security evaluations of payment acceptance devices.

SERMA Safety & Security joins a select group of labs around the world that test and validate that payment devices meet the PCI Personal Identification Number (PIN) Transaction Security (PTS) requirements for protecting cardholder data. PCI PTS requirements are used around the world by device manufacturers for building secure equipment used in connection with accepting and processing payment card data. PCI approved devices, which include in-store terminals, card readers and mobile payment devices are listed on the PCI Council website to help businesses choose technologies that are verified to protect their customers’ payment information.

“The PCI Council is delighted to add another strong resource to our growing roster of members and partners in the European region,” said Karteek Patel, 2016 PCI Chairperson and Senior Vice President of Global Products and Innovation Risk at Visa, Inc. “SERMA joining the ranks of PCI testing and verification labs complements perfectly the addition of the European Card Payment Association joining the Council just a few weeks ago as a strategic regional member. We look forward to adding more members throughout Europe this year.”

“As cybercriminals continue to attack point-of-sale terminals and PIN pads on ATMs, it is critical that organizations globally have the highest confidence in the security of the devices they use,” said PCI Security Standards Council General Manager Stephen W. Orfei. “We’re pleased to have SERMA Safety & Security join us in the Council’s end-goal of devaluing cardholder data and making it useless to criminals.”

Certification as a PCI recognized laboratory is a rigorous process, including controlled security evaluations of test artifacts and on-site audits.

“Our team has worked hard to obtain the PCI recognized laboratory approval and we are proud of this achievement”, said SERMA Safety & Security Chief Executive Officer Olivier Duchmann. He added “We are keen to provide the PCI community with our best-in-class expertise and professionalism and are ready to serve our clients worldwide.”

PCI Chief Operating Officer Mauro Lance added, “It’s a privilege to welcome SERMA Safety & Security to this group of globally recognized labs. The Council is committed to delivering the highest quality in its certification programs, and we’re confident that SERMA Safety & Security will help us continue delivering robust security testing for PTS devices.”
